Welcome to LeadSlingerStudios.
LSS was founded by two life-long friends who share a passion for
creation. From character design to covers and pin-ups to fully penciled
and inked sequentials, script creation to editorial work, we embrace
every aspect of comic bookdom. Finally at a position in our lives where
we could properly do so, we’ve decided to make a run at making comic
books our profession. With freelance work experience and our very own
creator owned properties in the works, it’s time to strike out and make
a name for ourselves. We have only one mission statement; Make the kind
of interesting, quality comic books we would want to pick up and buy
from our local comic book shop. Interested in our
services? Think you’ve got the skills to work for us? Just have some
questions? Wanna tell us how cool and dead sexy we are? Drop us a line!
Thanks for stopping by, the 'Slingers
NEWS The Pittsburgh Comic Con and more Posted 05/03/08
LeadSlingerStudios Presents:
REVELATIONS #2 is now available!
Yes, after a long delay, the 'Slingers have finally finished issue 2 and unveiled it at the 2008 Pittsburgh Comic Con. To the right you can see the cover to issue 2 beautifully colored by Lisa Jennings. Click for a larger image. Thanks Lisa! The Pittsburgh Comic Con was a fun and new experience for us (it was our first time attending) and I have to say it is a fantastic con. The gang at Pittsburgh really have their game together and know how to treat exhibitors. The New York Comic Con could really learn a thing or twenty from these folks.
The 'Slingers booth We had an incredible location just inside the entrance and met a lot of great folks. To our immediate left were my fellow N3rds at the N3rdcast booth. Dr Sexy was of course pimping his web comic Mumblepuss and handing out insulting business cards. Fantastic! To our right was Lance Parkin, creator of Beyond Good and Evil. It's a really fun-in-a-dark-sorta-way read, so check it out. Lance and his crew are a great bunch of guys that Shawn and I took under our wings and showed them the importance of a con bag! (tape and scissors are a must!) Across the aisle from us was Josh Johnson. Josh does some fantastic watercolor work check out his site and his work here. Last but certainly not least was Pittsburghs own favorite son DJ Coffman. Anyone who listens to the N3rdcast (or my own ramblings whenever I talk about comic books) knows that DJ is a personal hero and inspiration to Shawn and myself. He busts his butt and does everything he can to make his book "HERO BY NIGHT" great! Do yourself a favor and check it out. The hardcover collection of the first miniseries is a fantastic read and a great bargain! While we did have a great time, attendance was down (according to everyone we spoke to) and as a result we didn't sell nearly as many books as we had anticipated. We really hope things turn around and return to normal for everyone involved as we'd love to attend again next year. We're minor local semi-celebrities! YAY US! Your friends the 'Slingers were interviewed in the local newspaper this week as part of the 2008 Free Comic Book Day event (see article below). We were also asked by Joe Miller, owner of The Comic Store, to do a signing and sell our books there. We appreciate Joe's support and thank everyone who stopped by said hello and bought our books. We Met Jeff McComsey, another local comic book creator and all around nice guy. Check out his ComicSpace Page. Also appearing at the store today was Andrew Rodriguez of Androo Comics. Andrew's a really nice guy who does "Good Guy" mini comics. Check him out.

LOTS of News... FINALLY! Posted 04/13/08 Let us start by thanking Josh Bradigan for this pinup: Click for a larger version and see the full resolution image in Issue 1 of LeadSlingerStudios Presents: Revelations. Issue 2 of LSSP: Revelations is finally done and off to the printers. I think Shawn and I both had a better grip and feel for the characters and story this issue, and we're excited to throw ourselves into Issue 3. And while we're on the subject of issue 2... Next let's thank Lisa Jennings for again offering up her fantastic coloring skills for the cover of LeadSlingerStudios Presents: Revelations, Issue 2: Click for a larger view, and pick up a copy of issue 2 to see it in it's full glory! Issue 2 will see it's debut at the 2008 Pittsburgh Comic Con. Look us up and stop by for a sketch1 Last but certainly not least, I cant help but tease you with some of Andi Kurniawan's pencilled pages for LeadSlingerStudios Presents: Lightning Balls #1. Andi has wrapped up pencilling issue 1 and will be banging away on issue 2 soon. His enthusiasm, energy, and talent has blown me away. I'm sure you'll be impressed as well. Look for Lightning Balls later this summer from your pals at LSS. Welcome New Artist Andi Kurniawan to LeadSlingerStudios! Posted 01/30/08 Please join us in welcoming the newest talent to join LeadSlingerStudios; Andi Kurniawan. Andi is lending his fantastic pencilling skills to the upcoming 2 issue story "Lightning Balls." Andi hails all the way from Jawa Timur Province, Indonesia and I can guarantee you will be blow away by his pages. Every time I get pages in my email, I feel like a kid on Christmas morning. Just to tickle your fancy, here are a few of his character sketches. DIGGIT!
Holy Cow! DAN SLOTT on the N3RDCAST 01/05/08!!!! Posted 01/02/08 Don't
ask me how or why, but the N3RD's managed to get
Dan "Amazing
Spider-Writer" Slott as a guest for our first show of the new
year, and we are stoked! Yeah we hated
"One More Day" too, but screw it, that's
over-done-with-gone! We're going to talk to one of our favorite writers
about his vision and direction for
"BRAND NEW
DAY." As a life-long fan who worships at the feet of all
things Spider-Man, I couldn't feel more comfortable with "my" character
in anyone else's hands.

100 Monkeys locked in a room with 100 laptops Posted 12/11/2007 That is probably the most accurate explanation of why the sites been screwed up since I noodled it last Friday. I was adding this page for a segment we were going to do on Saturdays n3rdcast. Aside from adding a page that I thought would be a nice touch during the broadcast (and it would have been) what wasn't quite as spectacular an upgrade was killing every single link on every single navigation bar on the site! Normally this is the kind of thing I could blame on my n3rdcast partner Kwip, but this one was all me. So everything should be up and running now. If you find a glitch, let me know. Thanks again for checking us out and keep watching the site.
Thanksgiving wishes and a Special Offer! Posted 11/26/2007 I
hope all of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and are now back
into the
Speaking of cons, Shawn and I are both getting the "Convention Withdrawals" and we miss meeting fans and talking comics. so in hopes of making some new fans we are currently offering a web only special. Order a copy of LeadSlingerStudios Presents #1 or PRIMER #0 directly from us and either Shawn or I will do a sketch of any one character of your choosing inside the book! The cost is only $5 per issue and shipping is FREE (within the continental USA only). For more information on the books, click here. For ordering information, please drop us an email. Just tell us which book(s) you'd like and what character you'd like drawn by Shawn or me.
Website Update Posted 10/03/07 If you look to the navigation buttons on the left, you will notice a new button; 'SLINGERS SKETCHBOOKS. Shawn pointed out to me that as a comic book studio, we should showcase more of our artwork (who said I'm the brains of this outfit?). Check it out, I've posted some of our artwork there and will be posting more soon.
Appearance Posted 10/02/07 The 'Slingers will be appearing at The Ultimate Allentown Comic Con on October 13th. Any and all in the area who want to stop by and say 'Hi' are welcome. We'll be there selling books, signing autographs, and doing sketches. We hope to see you there.
The n3rdcast Goes Live! Posted 09/18/2007 File it under "what were they thinking?" The big brains over at Cringe Humor Radio decided the n3rdcast would be a good fit for their live internet radio line-up. Really?! The n3rdcast? Hey, we love what we do and we know at least 2 other folks out there like hearing us do that thing we do, so we said HELLS YES! Our first show went out live Saturday, Sep 15th from 12:00 til 3:30-ish (est for those running on Gail Simone time) and I think it's fair to say all of us involved were blown away by the response. I wont blather on too much here, we've got Shawn for that. I hope some of those reading this will tune in this Saturday for show #2 as we continue mis-informing and generally pissing-off geekdom at large with out brand of insanity. Not only do you get us live, you can slip on into the chat room and watch us do it (why on Gods green Earth would you want to do such a thing?!?!) See you K-F'ers there. Thanks the CH guys and dolls for this opportunity as well letting us be us! HappyJack

Baltimore Comic Con Pics Posted Posted 09/18/2007 Yes we have finally gotten around to posting some of the pics from the Balt Con (still waiting on those pics that our brothers-in-arms at the n3rdcast booth took - no rush boys!) and we will be announcing the winner of the Original Artwork give away in the next day or so. Thanks again to all those who stopped by the booth and said hi. the 'Slingers
Show Recap: 2007 Baltimore Comic Con Posted 09/09/2007 Well we survived the Baltimore Comic Con! A successful show, we sold a respectable amount of books, saw some old friends and made some new ones. It was great to see the guys (and gals) from PLB Comics again. These guys are great, check out (and buy) their book. We really hope to hook up with these fine folks at future shows and do some cross-promoting. We also saw Sean McManus again. If you've listened to the podcast (www.neenerneener.net) you know we all love his book The Last Sin of Mark Grimm. A great read. Check it out, you'll thank us later. HIGHLIGHT OF THE CON: So Shawn and I are standing at our table Sunday morning knocking the cobwebs from our brains, when I see an older gentleman and his wife walking up our aisle. The gentleman spots Shawn's piece of original artwork from across the aisle, promptly changes course and makes a bee-line for our table. We greet him and his wife, exchange niceties when I look down at his name badge... John Romita Sr! He really like Shawn's illustration and spoke to us a few minutes before heading off to the Hero Initiative booth. We were both awe-struck and on cloud nine. Then we realized we didn't get a picture with him! D'oh! Ah well, it was still an incredible moment and I don't think Shawn cared if we sold another book. Thank you Mr. Romita, you made our weekend!
Appearance: Posted 08/27/2007 LSS will be appearing at the Baltimore Comic Con June 8 -9, 2007.
