NEWS
Mini Update Posted 11/25/08
Just a quickie tonight to talk about FaceBook. I would like to encourage everyone out there to hit me (D Jason Meadows) up with a friend request on FaceBook, and be sure to join our group: F.O.O.L.S. (Friends Of Old Lead Slingers)! Here you can hear all the latest LSS news and views as well as get a preview glimpse of some of our upcoming books. I've got some colored and lettered pages of "A Day at the Beach" up there now with more stuff coming soon.
Wanted: FAN ART! We are asking fans and friends out there to send us your best versions of our characters. With our next wave of books right around the corner, we are looking for pin-ups to put in the new books as well as display on the website. So if you've got some art skills you'd like to show off, get drawing and send them over! All styles and interpretations welcome.
Another Day, Another Gun Posted 11/12/08
I am very happy to introduce Christian Kaw. Christian is in the Philippines and tracked us down via our website. He was kind enough to offer his coloring skills and jumped on the short Neroesville tale "The Drastic Duo." So impressed were we by his skills, we offered him an opportunity to color the longer, two issue story "Project: REBORN." He agreed, so we're thrilled to announce that we have our very first, full-color comic book on the way! As Christian finishes up his work on Duo and begins REBORN, we'd like to give you a little sneak peek at his work.
New Guns, New Projects, Same great taste! Posted 10/15/08
Very few updates lately... no new pics... so what exactly has LeadSlingerStudios been up to lately? Well, let me take a minute to introduce the newest Hired Guns and give you a peek at the projects their blood, sweat, and tears are going into. So, let's say hello to...
Andi Kurniawan: Okay, Andi is not exactly "new" to LSS; he's been doing incredible work penciling the two issue story "Lightning Balls" for a few months now. He's in the home stretch with only a few pages left to go while I am steadily inking away on the Cintiq. "Lightning Balls" is the first story to take place in Neroesville; the setting for our new super hero universe. Look for issues 1 and 2 to debut at The Pittsburgh Comic Con 2009. Andi will be doing more projects for LSS soon, as well as an upcoming project with one of my favorite writers. (shh, it's top secret for now!)
Paul Frey: Paul tracked us down via a forum post and said he was a digital inker. Music to my ears! I checked out some samples, saw he had skills, and offered him a spot inking Shawn's next book; "Project: REBORN". This two issue story is a tale of Government conspiracy and secret organizations. We got to meet Paul at the Baltimore Comic Con and thankfully he's a good guy (believe me, we've met some... unique individuals while on the convention tour). We hope to have Paul with us at the LSS table at some upcoming cons. Look for Project: REBORN #1 to premier at The Pittsburgh Comic Con, and #2 to premier in Baltimore in 2009.
Jim McMunn: Jim tracked us down via... ya know, I don't really know how Jim found us, but I'm glad he did. He sent me some samples, told us he works totally digitally on a Cintiq (which got my attention), and that he's influenced by Rick Leonardi. Score! I am a HUGE Rick Leonardi fan, so I threw a project at him immediately. "A Day at the Beach" is a one issue story that will follow "Lightning Balls" in the Neroesville universe. If he can stand working with us, we hope to have him do more projects for LSS in the future. We also hope to have Jim with us at our table at Wizard World Philly in '09 when we unveil "A Day at the Beach."
Alex "Elstabo" Aviles: Elstabo came to our table at the Baltimore Comic Con and said he was an artist looking for work. We gave him a card and told him to get in touch. We exchanged some emails and after seeing some samples and learning that he loves doing horror and violence, I knew he was a perfect fit for the next chapter of "Deaders" in PRIMER #1. If all goes according to plans, PRIMER #1 will be ready for the Pittsburgh Comic Con in '09 and you'll see more of Alex's work in the near future.
If you paid attention, you'll notice that we mentioned 6 issues to be printed in 2009. Lofty ambitions indeed for the upcoming year and a sign of things to come from LeadSlingerStudios. Thank you to all the fans who purchase our books. Know that we appreciate and value your continued support. Please join us in welcoming the new blood and click the links below to see some samples of their work and read details of the projects.
