BULLETPOINTS NEWSLETTER APRIL 28, 2008
LeadSlingerStudios Presents:
REVELATIONS #2 is now available!
Yes, after a long delay, the 'Slingers have finally finished issue 2 and unveiled it at the 2008 Pittsburgh Comic Con. To the right you can see the cover to issue 2 beautifully colored by Lisa Jennings. Click for a larger image. Thanks Lisa! The Pittsburgh Comic Con was a fun and new experience for us (it was our first time attending) and I have to say it is a fantastic con. The gang at Pittsburgh really have their game together and know how to treat exhibitors. The New York Comic Con could really learn a thing or twenty from these folks.
The 'Slingers booth We had an incredible location just inside the entrance and met a lot of great folks. To our immediate left were my fellow N3rds at the N3rdcast booth. Dr Sexy was of course pimping his web comic Mumblepuss and handing out insulting business cards. Fantastic! To our right was Lance Parkin, creator of Beyond Good and Evil. It's a really fun-in-a-dark-sorta-way read, so check it out. Lance and his crew are a great bunch of guys that Shawn and I took under our wings and showed them the importance of a con bag! (tape and scissors are a must!) Across the aisle from us was Josh Johnson. Josh does some fantastic watercolor work check out his site and his work here. Last but certainly not least was Pittsburghs own favorite son DJ Coffman. Anyone who listens to the N3rdcast (or my own ramblings whenever I talk about comic books) knows that DJ is a personal hero and inspiration to Shawn and myself. He busts his butt and does everything he can to make his book "HERO BY NIGHT" great! Do yourself a favor and check it out. The hardcover collection of the first miniseries is a fantastic read and a great bargain! While we did have a great time, attendance was down (according to everyone we spoke to) and as a result we didn't sell nearly as many books as we had anticipated. We really hope things turn around and return to normal for everyone involved as we'd love to attend again next year. We're minor local semi-celebrities! YAY US! Your friends the 'Slingers were interviewed in the local newspaper this week as part of the 2008 Free Comic Book Day event (see article below). We were also asked by Joe Miller, owner of The Comic Store, to do a signing and sell our books there. We appreciate Joe's support and thank everyone who stopped by said hello and bought our books. We Met Jeff McComsey, another local comic book creator and all around nice guy. Check out his ComicSpace Page.
